- The Club shall be called Carlisle Hockey Club.
- The Club shall be affiliated to the Cumbria County Hockey Association and
shall enter a team in the North West Hockey League.
- The objects of the Club shall be to provide facilities for hockey and
activities connected therewith.
- The Club shall be managed by a committee comprising all the officers of
the club and one other person who shall be under 19. The officers of the
Club and the other committee member shall be elected at the annual general
meeting in each year. The Committee shall have power to fill any casual
vacancy that may occur and may co-opt not more than 3 additional members but
their places shall not be included amongst those to be filled at the
election of the Committee members.
- The selection of teams shall be undertaken by a Selection Committee
comprising 1st and any other teams Captains and Vice-Captains and the Club
Coach (or such other person as the Committee may appoint).
- The annual subscription shall be £60 for paying members, (£20 in the
case of full time students and unemployed or such sums that may be
determined at the AGM. Subscriptions including unpaid subscriptions from the
previous year, shall be due at the AGM in every year. The Committee may at
its discretion vary the subscriptions for members who join the club during
the season or for any other reason. Playing members shall pay such a sum by
way of a match fee as may be determined by the Committee. Currently this is
set at £10 for paying members, £5 for full time students and unemployed or
such sums that may be determined at the AGM, and £4 for juniors.
- Membership shall be deemed to include membership of Carlisle Rugby Union
Football Club and the subscriptions shall include the appropriate
subscription of the club.
- The club may elect as Vice President any person who has rendered service
to the club or to hockey in the County. Vice-Presidents shall have the
privileges of membership of the Club and shall not be required to pay a
subscription.
- Any member whose current subscription shall not have been paid before 31st
December in any year shall not be eligible for selection until such
subscription has been paid. Any member whose subscription remains unpaid at
the commencement of the following season shall cease to be a member.
- Election of members shall be at the discretion of the general committee.
- A member wishing to withdraw from the Club must give notice in writing to
the Secretary on or before 31st August in any year, otherwise the
subscription for the ensuring year shall be payable.
- The Committee shall have power to suspend or expel any member who shall
offend against the rules of the Club or whose conduct shall in the opinion
of the Committee justify such disciplinary action. Before any such action is
taken the Secretary shall give the member concerned 7 days written notice to
attend a meeting of the Committee and shall inform him of the complaints
made against him and that he is entitled to appear and answer complaints
made against him.
- Club colours shall be blue shirts, white shorts and blue socks. Away
colours are silver birch shirts, white shorts and white socks.
- The Committee shall have the alter the rules, but no such alterations
shall effect until the same has been confirmed at a general meeting of the
Club.
- A general meeting of the Club shall be held in every year not later than
15th June to receive and adopt the Club's accounts, to appoint officers,
other members of the Committee and the auditor for the ensuing year, to
consider and approve any proposed alteration of the rules and to deal with
any other matters that may be raised. At least 10 days notice of such annual
general meeting shall be given to the members.
- Any member wishing to move any resolution at the annual general meeting
shall give at least 5 days notice of the resolution to the Secretary.
- A special general meeting may be convened at any time by the Committee or
on receipt of a requisition in writing from not less than 8 members. Notice
convening the meeting shall be sent to the members not less than 7 days
before the meeting and shall specify the matters to be dealt with.
- At Committee meetings and at general meetings the President and in his
absence a member selected by the meeting shall act as Chairman and preside.
Every member present shall have one vote upon every motion and in the case
of an equality of votes the chairman shall have a casting vote.
- At general committee meetings 3 shall form a quorum (except for the
purposes of rule 12 when two thirds of the membership of the Committee shall
vote in favour of the action proposed to be taken). At general meetings 10
shall form a quorum.
- The financial year of the Club shall end on 15th May in each year to which
day the accounts of the Club shall be balanced.
- At every general meeting one member of the Club not being a member of the
Committee shall be elected to serve as auditor for the ensuing year. A
vacancy occurring in the office of auditor during the year shall be filled
by a person appointed for that purpose by the Committee.
- The Committee may from time to time appoint from members of the Club such
sub-committees as it may deem necessary or expedient and may depute or refer
to them such powers and duties of the Committee as the Committee may
determine. Such sub-committees shall periodically report their proceedings
to the Committee and shall conduct their business in accordance with the
directions of the Committee.
- If at any general meeting a resolution for dissolution of the Club shall
be passes by a majority of the members present and entitled to vote and if
such resolution shall be confirmed by a resolution passed by a majority of
two thirds of the members present and entitled to vote shall be present the
Committee shall immediately or at such future date be specified in such
resolution proceed to realise the assets of the Club and after the discharge
of all liabilities shall divide the remainder equally among all the members
and upon completion of such division the Club shall be dissolved.
